What Distinguishes Religion from Other Schools of Thought

This demonstrates the comprehensiveness of the religion.

Religion has characteristics that distinguish it from other systems of thought, including the following:

1- Religion has sanctity because it is the rule of God and God’s rule is sacred.

2- Religion is in harmony with the Fitrat (nature) as explained previously.

3- Religion is in harmony with the intellect as explained previously.

4- Religion is comprehensive. It has plans and instructions for all aspects of life. It reminds us of what should be done from before birth until after death.

There are hundreds of verses of the Quran and thousands of Hadiths from our religious leaders that clearly determine our responsibilities regarding God, the society, family, friends, neighbors, and even animals and the environment. They tell us about how to choose a spouse, how to hold a wedding, instructions about pregnancy care, what a pregnant  woman should eat, giving birth, naming the baby, its sleep and crying, the responsibilities of the father and mother, education, youth, old age, sickness, and death, among others.

There are tens of instructions about what kind of clothes to wear. There are also instructions about being kind to animals and protecting the nature.

5- Religion and all of its instructions originate from revelation and there is no place for worldly desires in formation of religious instructions.
